If you have any questions, feel free to message me (the admin).
What Goes Where
If you don't know where your story should go, read the descriptions of the categories. If you still aren't sure where to post your story, put it in the sub-board category that you think is best. If I think it should be in a different category, I will move it for you and message you, letting you know.
Here at Horror Share, we follow the guidelines by Stephen King.
Horror: Unnatural, supernatural, or paranormal.
Terror: Knowing something is there without any proof. (For example, there is someone behind you. You can feel them breathing on your neck, their hand on your shoulder. You turn around to see that there is nobody there.)
Gross-Out: Rotting corpses, waste, or slaughter. (Note: Slaughter or slasher stories have their own category)
Creepy: Things that are so realistic with one (or more) things that are off (For example: Dolls are creepy. They resemble a human being, but something about them makes them different. Maybe it's the plastic skin or the blink-less eyes.)
How To
Want to know how to post your story on the website?
Follow these easy steps:
1. Write your story in a word procession program.
2. Use a spell/grammar check (you can find these on Google).
3. Determine whether the story is "long" or "short" (long is 5+ pages, short is 4- pages).
4. Go under the appropriate board and find the sub-board that fits your story's genre (follow the guidelines above).
5. Create a thread and copy+paste the story into the text box.
6. Write the title in the subject bar. Don't forget the EXPLICIT label if it needs it!
7. Click "Create Thread".
Want to know how to post an image/video/audio file?
Follow these easy steps:
1. Go to the "Media" board and enter the appropriate category for your file (pictures, video, or audio).
2. Create a new thread and attach the file.
3. Remember to title it and label it as EXPLICIT if needed.
4. Give credit to the artist or creator if it isn't yourself. Keep in mind, if I find that a user copied or plagiarized without giving credit, I will ban the IP address permanently.
5. Click the "Create Thread" button.
Want to know how to ask a question or start a discussion?
Follow these easy steps:
1. If you are planning on advertising another site in the Discussion section, please message me first to let me know.
2. Go to the Questions or Discussion board.
3. Enter the appropriate sub-board for your question/discussion.
4. Create the thread and ask the question or start the discussion.
5. Click the "Create Thread" button.
Want to know the best way to critique someone's writing?
Remember these helpful tips:
1. BE MATURE AND POLITE. Remember, people sometimes get connected to their work! We don't want someone getting too upset.
2. Be descriptive. Being vague isn't helpful. Try and explain and use examples on how to better someone's work.
3. Try and throw some compliments in there. It might not be the most "professional" to do so, but it always lightens the mood a bit and shows that you aren't attacking them or telling them their work is bad.
4. Be understanding. Some things just aren't easy for people to take.
5. We aren't professional editors or publishers. Unless the user asks for that kind of response (if they're looking to send it in to a publisher and would like some second opinions), please keep your responses gentle. We're just here to share our stories.
